BEHIND THE LENS
With a BA in Communication and a MA in Professional Photography from the European School of Communication and Visual Arts, José Luis Pérez is an expert in Photojournalism and a member of the International Sports Press Association and the Spanish Association of Professional Photographers.
As a specialist in sport and social photography, he has covered international events in countries like Spain, USA, Brazil, France, Switzerland, Austria and Belgium.
Some of his highlights are the FIFA Ballon d’Or ceremony in Zurich (Switzerland), the New Year’s Concert in Vienna (Austria), the Tour of Flanders in Brugge (Belgium), the Prince of Asturias Awards in Oviedo (Spain), some finals of the King’s Soccer Cup and photojournalist works in New York, Washington, Istambul, Maldives and Paris. More recently, he has covered the Brazil 2014 Soccer World Cup for different international news agencies. He will return to Rio de Janeiro in 2016, for the Olympic Games.
He has been teaching and lecturing about photography, journalism and Spanish language and culture at the Instituto Cervantes in Paris, the Instituto Cervantes in Rio de Janeiro and the Brooklyn Technical High School of New York. He participates in a research project on Spanish and Sports at the University of Alicante (Spain).
Besides, he is the author of two photography exhibitions: “Spain: a champion’s generation” (Paris and Alicante, 2013) and “Brazil 2014: chronicle of a World Cup” (San Vicente del Raspeig, 2015).
